• In 2009, Concordia opened the George R. White Library & Learning Center. The 74,000 sq. ft. center is the hub of campus with expanded library resources, classrooms, faculty offices, community meeting spaces, important centers of learning, and a coffee house.
• In 2009, Concordia opened a new residence hall along NE 27th Street. The 50,000 sq. ft. building features 43 apartment-style units, that have kitchens and bathrooms. Common spaces, bike storage, on-site parking, and other amenities will make the new residence hall a comfortable place to live and learn.
• Nineteen percent of undergraduate students at Concordia University are ethnically diverse, making the university one of the most diverse student bodies in the state of Oregon.
• Concordia's graduates rank among the highest in the state of Oregon on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
• In February of 2009, Concordia University was named to the U.S. President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary service efforts and service to America's communities. On average, Concordia University faculty, staff, and students contribute more than 223,000 hours of practicum, internship, and service learning hours per year serving over 10,000 community members, 5,000 of which are youth.
• In 2008, a group of Concordia University students competed against nine other private colleges and universities from the state of Oregon at the Oregon Independent College Foundation's annual Ethics Bowl. After five rounds of case debates dealing with a variety of ethical dilemmas, Concordia's students emerged as the champions.
• Concordia University's state-of-the art Throw Center is utilized by Olympic and Concordia student athletes for training. Inspired by Concordia's throws coach, Olympic gold medalist, Mac Wilkins, the facility is one-of-a-kind in the U.S. and will be made available to youth from around the region as a part of Concordia's ongoing commitment to the community.
• In 2006, Concordia University established the Concordia Teacher Corps, a select group of Concordia students who volunteer to mentor and tutor elementary, middle school, and high school students in nearby neighborhoods on a weekly basis.
• Concordia University is home to the Shakespeare Authorship Research Centre, an institute for study and research that is the only one of its kind in the world. The Centre is the academic home of annual events attracting educators, students, and scholars from around the globe who nurture a deep interest in pursuing one of the great literary questions of our time: who created the poetic and dramatic works that conventionally, if not uniformly, have been attributed to William Shakespeare?
• Concordia's CEO Roundtable luncheon provides the Portland business community access to leading executives and raises thousands of dollars for scholarships.
• The Jody Thurston Northwest Center for Children's Literature is the only one of its kind in the Northwest and helps teachers incorporate books into their curriculum.
