The Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing, located on the Portland Campus, leads efforts to increase the number of minorities entering the nursing profession and has increased the enrollment of Hispanic nursing students from 2.6 percent (2002-03) to 8.4 percent (2008-09). • Linfield College is home to the Oregon Nobel Laureate Symposium, one of only five such symposia in the world. The symposium brings Nobel laureates from a variety of disciplines for public and classroom discussions of global problems and issues. Since it was established in 1985, 20 Nobel laureates and many other distinguished visitors have participated.
• For more than 150 years, Linfield has helped shape the lives of men and women who served as leaders of the college, the local community, the state and the nation. One of the oldest colleges on the West Coast, Linfield was chartered by the Oregon Territorial Legislature in 1858.
